    Mississippi Economic Council’s Hobnob Event

    Senator Cochran spoke at Mississippi Economic Council’s Hobnob event this morning at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum in Jackson. Hundreds of  business, community and political leaders from across the state came together to listen to several speakers, eat a Mississippi style lunch, and socialize while making contacts. A few other honored guests and speakers included Governor Haley Barbour, Senator Roger Wicker, MS GOP Chairman Brad White, and more.

    Thad for Senate campaign stops at MSU and JSU

    The Thad for Senate campaign made a stop at Mississippi State University and Jackson State University this past weekend for both schools’ homecoming games.  Tents were set up in order for football fans to stop by and get Thad t-shirts, stickers, yard signs, push cards, and more.     Senator Cochran speaks at Groundbreaking for new Multi-Tenant building at MSU

    Senator Cochran was the keynote speaker at the groundbreaking for the new Multi-Tenant building at the Thad Cochran Research, Technology and Economic Development Park in Starkville, MS.  The event was held on Thursday, October 16, on the campus of Mississippi State University.

    A visit with Senator Thad Cochran- Political forum at the University of Mississippi

    Senator Thad Cochran will participate in a political forum tomorrow held at the University of Mississippi’s Overby Center.  The forum is sponsored by the Overby Center for Southern Politics and Journalism and will began at 4:30.  Sid Salter, perspective editor of the Clarion-Ledger, will moderate the event.  Reporters from around the state will join Salter in questioning Cochran.  Democratic opponent Erik Fleming will make an appearance at a the Overby Center for a political forum the following day.  The forum is free and open to the public.

    Cochran speaks at ribbon-cutting for Aurora Flights Sciences facility

    Senator Thad Cochran had the honor of delivering remarks and performing the ribbon-cutting at the Aurora Flight Sciences ceremony last Thursday.  The ceremony marked the celebration of a major expansion of the facility in Columbus, MS.  Several of the event’s speakers praised the community support and the hard work of the AFS staff members.  Many elected officials attended the event to show their support for Aurora Flight Sciences and its contributions to the state and nation.

    During his remarks, Senator Cochran said, “This is just the kind of capability our military has been asking for in order to provide cost-effective airborne surveillance twenty-four hours a day to our soldiers on the battlefield, and I look forward to the day full production Orion aircraft roll out of this hangar for delivery to the Department of Defense. I am proud to say that Aurora Flight Sciences is a fine example of the type of industry we want in Mississippi.”

    Forum on American Enterprise Honoring Senator Thad Cochran

    “The Forum on American Enterprise honoring U.S. Senator Thad Cochran” was held yesterday at the Jackson Marriott by the Mississippi Council on Economic Education.  The event invited teachers, students, and legislators from all across the state to attend. Speakers included Senator Cochran, Governor Haley Barbour, Sid Salter from the Clarion-Ledger, State Superintendent of Education Dr. Hank Bounds, and Chairman of MS Council on Economic Education Dr. Ted Alexander.

    Sen. Cochran kicks off USM v. Boise State game with pre-game coin toss

    Last Saturday, Senator Cochran visited the Golden Eagles at the University of Southern Mississippi.  USM played Boise State at MM Roberts Stadium, also known as “The Rock.”  Cochran helped kick off the football game by performing the pre-game coin toss. View pictures of the game below.

    Senator Cochran speaks at launch of “The Garden” at USM

    On Saturday afternoon, Senator Thad Cochran spoke at the launch of the University of Southern Mississippi’s commercialization and innovation park which was dubbed “The Garden.” “The Garden” will be the home of a 100,000-square-foot office and research building which will help move innovative research from the “mind to the marketplace.”  Cochran helped secure federal funds for the $30 million investment.
     
    “This project would not have been possible without the help of our senior senator from Mississippi,” Southern Miss President Martha Saunders said.

    Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree also spoke at the launch in which he described Senator Cochran as someone who loved Mississippi, Hattiesburg, and USM.  He went on to say that those type of people always “help us move to the top,” referring to Southern Miss’s well-known chant, “Southern Miss, to the top!”

    This afternoon, Senator Thad Cochran and Mississippi GOP Chairman Brad White addressed a crowd of nearly 200 people at the Jones County Republican Women luncheon.  Both Sen. Cochran and Brad White encouraged the crowd to “Get out the vote,” an important part of the upcoming election on both a state and national level.
